3 Months Since Launch

Suffolk Story officially launched on 4th May 2026, the week after we got everyone featured in the book together for an amazing launch party. Since then, I don’t think either of us expected these first three months to keep us quite as busy, if not busier than the time we spent putting the book together. In the best way possible.
Tomorrow, the third batch of stock arrives at my house. The third time I’ll take over the kitchen with hundreds of copies of Suffolk Story, and the third time my wife will ask when they’re all going to be out of the kitchen.

One of the best things since launch has been the reception the book has had. People always say this, but we genuinely didn’t know what to expect. We’ve met so many people who have given us lovely feedback, had messages and emails from people who’ve bought a copy, and even had people come over to say hello when they’ve spotted us out and about.
It’s a very strange feeling, and one we’re still not quite used to.
We’ve also become part-time delivery drivers, taking books out to all the brilliant stockists around the county. Bookshops, gift shops and many of the places featured in the book themselves.
Suffolk Story is now stocked in more than 30 places, which still feels slightly ridiculous to write. I also can’t help taking a photo whenever I see a copy sitting on a shelf somewhere.

We’ve loved getting to know the people behind those shops, seeing how enthusiastic they’ve been about the book, and we’ve even started working with a few of them on some really exciting events and ideas.
The book itself brought a lot of firsts, but since launching we’ve managed to add a few more. The first time on the radio. The first time in a magazine. The first award I’ve won (I’m not sure my primary school World Book Day Costume of the Year counts; Mum may disagree) and the first time anyone has ever asked me to sign something for them.

I’m speaking for myself here. Hannah may well have a collection full of awards I’m not aware of-she still hasn't run out of new fun facts about herself to tell me despite the amount of time we've spent together!
Thankfully, there are still plenty more firsts to come.
That’s partly what this blog is going to be for. A place to share what we’re working on, the events we’ve got coming up, people and places we’re spending time with, and some of the things happening behind the scenes that probably don’t warrant a perfectly polished Instagram post.
Suffolk Story started as an idea for a book. Three months post launch, we’re still working out exactly what it might become next-which, I think, is probably the most exciting bit. One thing we do know is it will continue to support and shout about the Suffolk hospitality scene, and maybe, just maybe it might mean a volume 2...
